Special congratulations goes to students Emily Cummings for winning a Leadership position and Claire Tumey for receiving a "Best Ambassador" award. Your hard work as well as that of your family and teachers is greatly appreciated.

On Tuesday, March 9, the NMS bands attended the annual KMEA District 2 Concert Festival in Madisonville, KY. The bands were judged on their performed music, which they have been working on since January, and sight-reading, in which the band plays a new piece in just minutes. Congratulations to the 7th grade band which received a Proficient rating and to our 8th grade band, which received a Distinguished rating! Their next performance will be at their annual Spring Concert on May 13, 7:00PM at the Henderson Fine Arts Center.

Congratulations to the NMS Archery Team for placing as the Regional Runner-up in the Middle School Division earning them a spot in this year’s state tournament which will be held in Louisville March 22nd and 23rd.

North Middle School is proud to announce that our eighth grade students equaled or were above both national and state mean scores on the EXPLORE academic test, a high school readiness exam designed to help them explore a broad range of options for their future. Students participated in timed, multiple choice assessments in the areas of English, Math, Reading and Science.

This news followed North Middle School achieving No Child Left Behind goals two years in a row! Congratulations to all sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students, faculty and staff.
Congratulations to eighth grader Tate Salisbury for placing first in the Middle Grades US History competition on Tuesday, March 2nd at the Western Kentucky History Day at Murray State University. Tate competed with almost 100 students from 13 middle schools in Western Kentucky and Tennessee. Our entire team did a great job!

Congratulations to the NMS academic team on placing second out of seventeen teams at Regional Governor’s Cup at Burns Middle School on Saturday. The following students placed and will advance to state competition in Louisville:
Tate Salisbury placed 1st in Science and 3rd in Social Studies.
Ashley Marshall placed 3rd in Language Arts and 4th in Arts and Humanities.
Claire Tumey placed 2nd in Composition.

Congratulations to our 7th grade boys basketball team for winning the M.W.K.A.C. Conference Tournament this past weekend at Holy Name.
Congratulations to Tyler Crawford for winning the VFW Voice of Democracy Essay Contest. Tyler will now progress on to compete at the Regional level.
